Compare o uso de "At/on/in".
Preposição é uma palavra que liga dois termos e estabelece relações entre os mesmos.
A. They arrived at 5 o'clock.
B. They arrived on Friday.
C. They arrived in October. / They arrived in 2011.
Nos usamos at para horas
Exemplos :
at five o'clock
at 11:45
at midnight
at lunchtime
at sunset
etc.
Nos usamos on para os dias da semana e datas
Exemplo :
on Friday/ on Fridays
on 16 May 1999
on Christmas day
on my birthday
Nos usamos in para longos períodos
Exemplo : (meses/anos/estações)
in october
in (the) winter
in 1998
in the 1990s
in the 18th century
in the Middle Ages
in the past
in (the) future
Obs. Usamos at nestas expressões :
at night
at the weekend/ at the weekends
at the moment/ at present
at the same time
I don't like going out at night

Observe os exemplos abaixo :
in the morning(s) mas on Friday morning(s)
in the afternoon(s) mas on Sunday afternoon(s)

obs. Não utilizamos at/on/in antes de last/next/this/every
Exemplo :
I will see you next Friday.
They got married last March.
