Quando utilizar Will ou Going to?

A dúvida entre o uso do Will ou Going to é frequente entre os estudantes, normalmente a maioria faz opção em utilizar Will, mas será que está certo?Não, veremos a seguir as suas utilizações.

Começaremos com o Going to:

Devemos utlizar o going to quando já decidimos(planejamos) uma situação, temos a intenção de realizá-la:

Ex.

Are you going to watch the late film on tv tonight? No, I am going to have an early night.

I hear Sarah has won some money. What is she going to do with it? She's going to buy a new car.

Quando planejamos executar uma situação:

Ex.

You shoes are dirty. Yes, I know. I am going to clean them.

I have decided not to stay here any longer. Tomorrow I'm going to look for somewhere else to stay.

Atenção

Podemos utilizar Going to, quando temos certeza, que uma situação irá (prever) acontecer no futuro. 

Ex.

Imagine um homem carregando varias caixas, e ele não consegue ver a parede logo à sua frente. Nessa situação o homem vai de encontro a parede.

The man can't see the wall in front of  him. 

He is going to walk into the wall.

Look at those black clouds! it's going to rain. (The clouds are there now)

I feel terrible. I think I'm going to be sick. (I feel terrible now)

Quando tinha a intenção de fazer, ma não fez. 

Ex.

We were going to travel by train, but then we decided to go by car instead.

Quando alguma coisa iria acontecer, mas não aconteceu.

Ex.

I thought it was going to rain, but it didn't

Utilizando o Will

Utilizamos o Will quando decidimos uma situação no momento que estamos conversando (não planejamos).

Ex.

Oh, I have left the door open. I will go and shut it.

What would you like to drink? I will have an orange juice, please.

Sempre utilizamos Will nessas situações:

Oferecendo 

That bag looks heavy. I will help you with it.

Concordando em fazer alguma coisa

Can you give. Tim this book? Sure, I will give it to him whe I see him this afternoon.

Quando prometemos fazer alguma coisa

Thanks for lending me the money. I will pay you back on Friday.

Pedindo alguém para fazer alguma coisa

Will you please turn the stereo down? I'm trying to concentrate.

Utilizamos regularmente Will em certas expressões:

I think… (Eu acho que…)

Probably, … (Provavelmente, …)

I guess… (Eu acho…)

I’m not sure, but I think… (Não tenho certeza, mas acho que…)

I don’t know, but I think… (Num sei não, mas acho que…)

Maybe… (Talvez…)

I wonder

I don't think

I expect

Ex. 

I will probably go to salvador in December.

I don’t know! But I think I will not go to the party next Saturday.

Maybe we will not be here tomorrow.

Prediction - Prevendo o futuro

Utilizamos o Will para fazer uma previsão do futuro, mas atenção, é apenas uma previsão. NÃO É CERTEZA.

It will rain tomorrow. (estamos prevendo chuva para amanhã)

Repare a diferença: 

Look at those black clouds! it's going to rain. (Nesse caso o Céu está nublado nesse exato momento, e irá chover).

People won't go to Jupiter before the 22nd century.

Who do you think will get the job?

The sun will rise at 6.30 tomorrow.

Lunch break today will be 10 minutes longer than usual.

No caso da utilização do verbo Be:

O verbo be é uma exceção, devemos optar pela utilização do Will junto com o verbo, mesmo quando planejamos uma situação.

Ex. 

I will be in London tomorrow.

There will be 50 people at the party.

The meeting will be at 9.30 am.
